In keeping with the strategy to diversify, SIGCORP was formed to re-invigorate the image of the company.
SIGECO was an electric and gas utility company serving the Southwest portion of the state of Indiana. While facing increasing competition from alternative energy/power providers, SIGECO began a push, during the early 1990s, to diversify into non-regulated businesses.
In keeping with the strategy to diversify, the design challenge was to re-invigorate the image of the company which started in 1912, and establishing three subsidiaries: Southern Indiana Properties, Inc., Southern Indiana Minerals, Inc., and Energy Systems Group, Inc. The new parent company name became SIGCORP.
